Our Work

Create safety. Maximise choice

Create safety

This means stable, small-scale housing, clear boundaries and expectations, consistent staff presence, non-punitive responses to crisis and predictable routines.

Maximise choice

Residents shape their support plans, life at Mazí contains options - not prescriptions, opening pathways beyond Mazí not creating dependcies, and residents leave on their own terms.

Community-based housing

We foster safe environments in which each resident feels comfortable to share his needs, concerns, and opinions. With the support of our housing manager, residents run their own home; in weekly house meetings, we discuss how to coordinate tasks and debate house rules. This discourse is key in building trusting relationships; it ensures that every resident participates in the healthy running of the houses, balancing his own and his community’s needs. This stable, self-sustaining environment facilitates the development of soft skills such as improved communication, cultural understanding, confidence and the capacity to learn.

Person-centred casework

We know that each resident is the expert in his own life. Our social worker supports him to forge his own path while obtaining practical tools to build self-reliance. We work to ensure residents have access to the information, services and opportunities that allow them to make their own informed choices about what is right for them. Our priority is to make sure our residents have a consistent sounding board, and clarity of information.
